    Ending (My Version)

    June 23, 2017 by AustinDR

In order for there to be peace, sometimes a sacrifice must be made. For fifty years, Jack had sacrificed any chance he could've had to return home in order to help those under the tyrannical Aku's rule. However, after all those efforts, Aku had ensured that the misplaced samurai would never return home. Aku had destroyed every time portal in existence, including the one that was lorded over by the Guardian. Despite not staying to see the results, Aku had driven his most hated foe to the brink of clinical depression. He was tormented by his failures for a long time, at least until he had found hope in the form of Ashi. Even though they were bitter enemies when they first met, they had slowly grown to care about each other. Ashi became enamo…

    Episode CI (Review)

    May 22, 2017 by AustinDR

Episode CI. Okay, I did like the ending, but it's not my absolute favorite ending for a show in general. The episode starts with Aku broadcasting his capture of jack by...playing the old opening from the previous seasons, which while it's great to hear it again, it also had some horrifying implications that it was a propaganda device the entire time. Aku decides that the best way to kill his hated enemy was by having Ashi do the honors. Before Jack was going to meet his maker, several of his allies and those he had saved come to his rescue. That's right: even though they now realize that they would cease to exist if Jack returned to the past, they were still going to fight for him, even if they couldn't even hope to defeat Aku without the …

OK....episode 8. Dang it, Adultswim, did you have to go and do this? I owe money to my Dad now! That's how bad you've gotten! Seriously though, this was also another good episode, but I find it less memorable than a few of the other episodes in Season 5. While on the quest to destroy Aku, Jack and Ashi are caught in a sandstorm, forcing them to take refuge in an abandoned spacecraft. However, they find themselves being hunted by one of the most dangerous creatures in the universe: leeches.

Now the episode had a few laughs here and there, my favorite being when Jack's head turns into a fish after he ate alien-looking food (don't worry, he gets back to normal). Of course, there's also those few times where Jack felt awkward around Ashi, such …

Onto episode 7. In this episode, Jack recounts the events that led to him losing his sword. To me, this was Aku at his most worst. Now, Aku had done several horrible things in the series from genocides, ordering robots to decimate a city even though he told the scientist that his village would be spared, masquerading as a woman to further thrust the knife into Jack, etc. But here, to me, serves as a reminder that while Aku is comedic, that doesn't take away from the fact that he is pure evil. In the flashback, three goat-like creatures help Jack find a time portal, and Jack actually manages to enter into it. But then Aku pulls him out before he could return to the past, only to then destroy the time portal, gloating that it was the last on…

    Episode C (Review)

    May 16, 2017 by AustinDR

Well, s**t. Episode 9 - the penultimate episode, and boy was it insane. I'll start of by saying that I am honestly not surprised by the revelation. While discussing the season with my mother, I did speculate on the High Priestess somehow acquiring Aku's essence to bear children. And.....yeah, that's almost how it plays out. In the episode, Jack and Ashi set out to slay Aku, but Jack initially leaves her behind, because he had lost everything that he had loved at that point....he didn't want her to be just a memory as well. And then, it gets worse. Scaramouche and Aku arrive, which causes Aku to realize that Jack still had his sword, ergo obliterating Scaramouche. As he was about to leave, Aku notices his essence from within Ashi. It turns …
